The ECDIS training course provides participants with the skill set necessary to safely manage the navigation of a vessel 500 gross tonnage or more. Course content follows the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Model 1.27 Course, including updates from 2016.

About the Event
This AMSA approved short course provides the Generic Knowledge, Skills and understanding of ECDIS and ENCs to the
operational extent required to undertake the duties of a Navigation Watch Officer as defined by STCW Tables A-II.
To safely navigate vessels there are three phases of ECDIS training; this course is followed by the relevant Flag State type specific training the on board familiarisation as per ISM Code.
The course is contextualised for Australia and particularly applicable to Marine Pilots maintaining a Certificate of Competency.
It is assumed participants undertaking this course have accomplished some formal instruction in Terrestrial Navigation, have at minimum some familiarisation with visual navigation, have accomplished a period of supervised bridge watch-keeping duties and have prior completion of basic Radar/ARPA training. Participants should also have considerable PC Skills.
